Wheelchair-accessible dentist in Antalya: access at a glance

Around 1.3 billion people, or 1 in 6 people worldwide, live with a significant disability, and the World Health Organization lists inaccessible transport and barriers in the health system itself among the reasons they receive worse care[1]. For a wheelchair user travelling to a dentist, the practical questions are simple: can I get in, can I get around, and is there a toilet I can use? This is the honest answer for our clinic.

Getting to the clinic

Ulubey Dental Clinic is at Çağlayan Mahallesi, Barınaklar Bulvarı, Özen 2 Apartmanı No:109A, Muratpaşa, Antalya, in the Lara area. It is about 12 km, roughly 15 minutes by car, from Antalya Airport (AYT). A public-transport stop is about 3 metres from the clinic door.

If you come by car, there is an accessible parking space, the building’s own car park, and roadside parking in front of the clinic. There is a pharmacy right next door. Directions and a map are on our contact page.

We cannot confirm the accessibility of airport transfers, taxis or hotels on this page. If you are travelling from abroad, please check these with the provider directly; our guide for international patients covers the rest of the trip.

Inside the clinic

The clinic is on the ground floor and has no upper floor, so every room you need is on one level. The entrance and the seating are wheelchair accessible, and there is a wheelchair-accessible toilet. Wheelchair users have been treated at our clinic.

If you need help moving from your wheelchair to the dental chair, or you would prefer to discuss how treatment can be done for you, tell us when you book. We then tell you plainly what is possible before you come.

Communication and written information

  • Writing instead of speaking. You can contact us entirely in writing on WhatsApp or by e-mail. Messages are usually answered within 4 hours.
  • Written quotes. Your treatment plan and price are given in a written quote, valid for 30 days, so you can read them at your own pace and share them with family or a carer.
  • Languages. Both dentists speak Turkish and English. Dr. Surur Ulubey is a native speaker of Farsi and Azerbaijani; read more on meet the dentists.
  • The same two dentists. Dr. Ali Cem Ulubey and Dr. Surur Ulubey see every patient themselves; there are no rotating dentists, so you deal with the same people from the first message to the last check-up.

Anxiety and other special needs

Many patients who need extra support are also anxious about dental treatment. What we do for anxious patients is open to everyone:

  • a get-to-know-you talk before any treatment;
  • an agreed “stop” signal that you can use at any time;
  • every step explained honestly and clearly before it happens;
  • no pressure: you decide, and you choose when to start;
  • a calm clinic setting, and music of your choice.

More on this is in our guide to dental anxiety. If you have a medical condition or take regular medicines, read oral health and medical conditions and tell us before your visit.

What we cannot offer

Please know this before you plan
  • No treatment under general anaesthesia. Our clinic does not offer it. If you know that your treatment can only be done under general anaesthesia, a hospital-based service is the right place.
  • No Sunday appointments. The clinic is open Monday to Saturday, 09:00–19:00; on Sundays it is closed and WhatsApp is for urgent cases.
  • Travel arrangements. We cannot confirm the accessibility of hotels, taxis or transfers; please check these directly.

What to tell us before you come

A short message before your first visit helps us prepare. Useful things to tell us:

  1. whether you use a wheelchair, and whether you can move to the dental chair on your own or need help;
  2. whether you will come by car or by public transport;
  3. any medical condition, regular medicines or allergies;
  4. whether someone will come with you;
  5. anything that makes dental visits difficult for you, such as anxiety, sensitivity to noise or difficulty keeping your mouth open for long.

We answer each message and tell you honestly what we can do. If we think another setting would serve you better, we say so.
